Alien (1979) with Dr. Aaron Donaldson cohost of The Alien Movie Project

This week on the A Cosmic Void podcast we are joined by The Alien Movie Project cohost Dr. Aaron Donaldson to discuss perhaps the most influential science fiction movie ever, Alien! We examine it's relationship to sex and capitalism. We also put the film under a microscope and ask the hard questions: what's with all the little toys? Would this have been avoided if Kane had breakfast? And exactly how hard is it to maintain focus on one piece of cinema when it has seven sequels, an upcoming TV series, and an endless supply of comics and video games, as well as cute plushies? And of course we talk about it's influence on film at large as well as macabre chamber full other topics.

First Blood (1982)

This week A Cosmic Void podcasts on one of the most influential action movies ever made: First Blood. If you haven't seen it, it's not what you think. Rambo mostly keeps his shirt on, he doesn't kill anyone, and he's fighting a Sheriff in Washington state. This movie looks at how police departments and militaries abuse their power over people. We also explore the dark side of the film's legacy as lone wolf types have flocked to it. And that's barely getting into the conversation Jeremiah Perez and Alex Biggs Small have around the film.
